Other MSI Technologies

In: Uncategorized

In addition to RCATTM and MDA MSI has exclusively licensed from Yale University the worldwide rights to two technologies: allele frequency distortion (AFD) and multiparametric fluorescent in-situ hybridization (MFISHTM). These additional technologies increase opportunities to develop new platforms, products and services.

AFD is a method for rapid identification of important Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) and genes in common, polygenic human disease and drug responses. Rather than assessing differences between affected and unaffected patients (or drug-responsive and non-responsive patients) one by one, AFD employs pooled DNA or RNA samples and is designed to reveal simultaneously most or all of the SNP or gene expression differences between the two populations. Using statistical algorithms, the AFD technology includes methods for identification of DNA mismatches in complex mixtures.

M-FISHTM is a computer-assisted technology for chromosomal analysis (karyotyping), involving the use of combinatorial fluor analysis and DNA markers for each chromosome. M-FISHTM can simultaneously survey all of the chromosomes in a dividing cell for macroscopic rearrangements. M-FISHTM is applicable in prenatal testing as well as in the process of characterizing leukemias and lymphomas. The procedure is gaining acceptance in pathology laboratories worldwide.
